Now below are different methods on how to uninstall an App on iPhone or iPad. However, do note that system applications like Phone or Messages cannot be uninstalled.
Method 1: Uninstall Apps from the home screen
As there is no application drawer on iOS devices, deleting applications from the home screen is a very simple and straightforward procedure.
- Long press on the icon of the app that you wish to uninstall. Do not tap once on the icon, as this will launch the application.
- When you long press on the app icon, within a couple of seconds, the icons starts to wiggle and an “x” mark appears next to the application icon.
- Click on the “x” mark will uninstall the app and also all the stored data and files related to the respective app. So be aware of that.
Do note that if your device supports 3D Touch, then firmly pressing on the app icon you wish to delete may not show the “x” icon but may launch the Share popup menu.
In this case, simple touch anywhere outside the Share popup menu to cancel the menu and then slightly long press on the same app icon again.
Method 2: Remove Apps from iPhone via the Settings App
Applications can also be uninstalled from the Settings app on iPhone or iPad. This helps in analyzing how much space each app and its data is consuming on your device and deleting the apps you use rarely.
- Launch the Settings app on your iPad or iPhone.
- Click on “General”.
- Now, click on “iPhone Storage”.
- Select the app you wish to uninstall and confirm the same.
If your iPad or iPhone is running iOS 11 or above, you can click on the “iTunes & App Store” option available in the Settings app.
In here, you will find an option named “Offload Unused Apps”. Enabling this option will uninstall unused apps from your device, but will keep the files and data associated with the app so that you can reinstall the app later.
