Mid-range smartphones are evolving, and there are so much that brands are providing in their mid-range smartphones. It now comes with a better processor, faster processor and more RAM for better performance. Thes new and upgraded features are making them good value for money smartphones, but there is rivalry everywhere. Here we are comparing two amazing smartphones from two different brands; Honor 9i and the Gionee M7 Power.

Both the smartphones fall under the mid-range category and come with pretty fantastic hardware and specs. Both the smartphones features an 18:9 aspect ratio display with thin bezels around the screen. There is a very little price difference between them, but both smartphones are a good candidate for value for money category, but who really is a perfect value for money smartphone? Let’s find out.

Design and Build

Both the smartphones come with a metal body, but Honor 9i comes with curves around the edges, and Gionee M7 Power comes with a flat edge design. From the front, both the smartphones look the same, only Gionee M7 power has it branding below the display, and both lack the hardware navigation keys.

The back of the smartphones is where things get differently excited; Honor 9i has a groovy pattern on the back for grip, a plastic cover at the bottom part and a glass panel for the top part. The honor 9i has a classy matte finish at the back with the antennae lines running across.

Display

The display in Gionee M7 power is a 6 inches IPS LCD screen with HD+ (1440×720) resolution and 268 PPI pixel density. The display panel is covered with the 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass coverglass protection.

The Honor 9i also features a 6 inches IPS LCD with FHD+ (2160×1080) resolution. There is no protection available on this display which is negative in comparison to the Gionee M7 Power. But the FHD+ resolution on the Honor 9i is a big plus over the HD+ resolution on Gionee M7 power display.

Camera

The camera is another important feature in a smartphone these days; Honor 9i is the world’s first smartphone with four cameras; dual camera module on both sides. At the back, it has a 16MP+2MP camera to create depth or Bokeh effect in pictures. The front-facing camera is a 13MP+2MP with soft flash to get bright pictures in low light condition.

Gionee M7 Power flaunts a single 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture size and LED flash. It comes with features like face detection, HDR, and panorama. It can record FHD videos at 30 frames per second. The front-facing camera is an 8MP shooter with f./2.2 aperture for bright selfies.

Performance

Honor 9i comes with the Huawei Kirin 659 processor with wight cores; 4 x Cortex A53 at 2.36 GHz and 4 x Cortex A53 at 1.7 GHz. The RAM is 4GB, and the internal memory is 64GB which is expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box with EMUI 5.1 layered on the top. Honor 9i comes with a 3340 mAh battery which is enough for a full day.

The Gionee M7 Power features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor with eight cores running at 1.4 GHz frequency. The RAM is 4GB, and internal memory is 64GB which is further expandable to 256GB via microSD card. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo UI 5.0 layered on the top. The battery is 5000 Li-Po battery, which is the most significant battery any smartphone ever had.

It’s pretty hard to select one definitive winner between these two phones, but my vote goes for Honor 9i due to its overall superiority between the two.
