Honor 9: Specs and Features

Based on earlier leaks and reports, the Honor 9 will look strikingly similar to its predecessor the Honor 8. The unannounced Honor 9 device has already been certified by Chinese telecommunications authority TENNA, and most of the device’s key specs are now out on the web.

As already mentioned, the smartphone looks much identical to last year’s Honor 8. The only difference between the two is the arrangement of the dual -LED flash and the laser autofocus. On the Honor 8, the dual-LED flash and laser autofocus are arranged vertically on the back, while on the Honor 9 they’re stacked horizontally. Rest of the phone’s design aesthetics could well be confused with the Honor 8.

On the front, the Honor 9 is said to feature a 5.15-inch Full HD display. Under the hood, the device will reportedly get powered by the company’s latest Kirin 960 processor, found on Huawei’s top-of-the-line handsets. The chipset will come bundled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage which can be further expanded via a microSD slot.

In terms of optics, the phone’s rear camera setup includes 12MP+20MP dual-lens cameras. On the front, the device is said to pack an 8MP selfie shooter. Battery capacity on the Honor 9 is expected to get slightly enhanced at 3100mAh. Elsewhere, the upcoming Honor 9 is said to run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box wrapped under the company’s proprietary EMUI skin.

Also, the company is said to have ditched the classic 3.5mm jack in favor of the latest USB-Type C standard with the upcoming Honor 9.

Honor 9: Release Date and Price

The smartphone is expected to see an official unveiling in China on June 12. As far as pricing goes, we can expect something similar to the Honor 8. The smartphone could be priced around $450 for the unlocked entry level model.

Also, the company may have decided to schedule a separate European launch event for the unannounced Honor 9. An invite for the same has already been outed which is said to take place on June 27 in Berlin, Germany. The purported European invite reads “join us on June 27 to see how Honor lights up the night”, which suggests we might see improvements in the low-light photography department.
