Honda unveiles fourth generation Honda City in Delhi

In the beleaguered Indian auto car market, wait for Honda’s successful car was finally over with launch of Diesel variant Honda City. The Japanese maker has launched its flagship and most successful car Honda City, in all its all-new Avtar for the Indian Markets.

The petrol version already exists in the market, but the launch of diesel variant is what makes it even more sweet and exciting. The petrol version of the Honda City is powered by 1.5 litre iVTEC engine whereas diesel variant with 1.5 litre iDTEC engine. To capture the market space of Indian consumers, the cars are priced effectively at the petrol version, which comes at 7.42-lakh price tag while the diesel variant will range from 8.62 lakh to 11.1 lakh (Ex- showroom Delhi).

Launched in the year 1998, the company has successfully sold close to 4.3 lakh units in India. In addition, basking under the success of Honda Amaze and Brio cars; the company is hopeful of selling at least 1.2 lakh units.

Hironori Kanayama, President and Chief Executive Officer of the auto major, had to this say:

“With the best of both petrol and diesel technologies available in Honda City, we are very confident about the success of the model, which will significantly contribute to our business growth in India.”

Honda has already posted a commendable sales growth of 30 % in India by selling 5493 units in December 2013 over 4242 units sold in December 2012. Moreover, Honda city Diesel and petrol version are expected to get the same results for the company this year.
