HMD Global grabs 500 Nokia Design Patents including the ‘Lumia Camera UI’ From Microsoft

According to the latest document from European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the global tech giant Microsoft has transferred around 500 Nokia design patents including the Lumia Camera UI to HMD Global recently. On the other hand, Microsoft owns 200 Nokia design including PureView, ClearBlack, and PureMotion. NokiaMob reports the confirmation regarding this deal.

It seems that the HMD Global future strategy will be relying on competing with rivals like Samsung and Apple in Flagship market segment, as it is inevitable. It is very likely that the company’s next offering will be the high-end devices like Nokia 8 which is going to launch on August 16th and the Nokia 9 which is expected to launch very soon. Both of these handsets are expected to come with Carl-Zeiss lenses as HMD global united with Carl-Zeiss.

HMD Global has recently launched the Nokia 3, 5, 6 handsets in the Global market and the company is looking forward to diversifying its product line with cutting edge technology, and HMD Global grabbing patents from Microsoft seems like a well-planned decision. As we know that Microsoft acquired Nokia a couple of years back, but the partnership was not successful because of the lower demand for Window phones.
