Harley-Davidson to recollect Street 750 model bikes in India over safety topic

An American Motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson will recall 3,698 units of Street 750 bike on the safety issue. The bikes are being recalled to rectify a faulty fuel pump. Harley-Davidson has confirmed that it has voluntarily recalled its 2015, XC750 models that are available in India.

In a statement, Harley-Davidson India said that few of its motorcycles could have a poor seal at the fuel pump inlet. The recall is being made in the best interests of the customers. The company also said that it’s working with dealers in India to notify customers about the recall and bring their bikes for inspection.

Companies have proactively recalled the vehicles in the past also. In July 2012, Auto Industry body, SIAM initiated a voluntary recall for safety related issues.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India also recalled 13,700 CBR 150R and CBR 250R bike models, manufactured between July 2014 to June 2015. A defective starter relay switch assembly was the reason for the recall.

Harley-Davidson is one of the most renowned and luxury American bike manufacturer. The recall of almost 3,698 bikes has been forced after the company received some complaints about the faulty fuel pump inlet.

All the 3,698 recalled models are the Harley’s Street 750 model. These models were manufactured at the company’s plant at Bawal in Haryana. The complaints started coming a few months after the manufacturing of the bikes.

The company has asked its dealers to issue replacement notifications to all its consumers who have purchased the faulty bike. The company also asked the dealers to notify the consumers that the faulty inlet is being replaced free of cost.
