Google celebrated this year’s women’s day with some extra good news for women. The company issued a press release indicating that women registered more time spend on the search engine than their male counterparts.

The report indicates that women spend more time on Google search than men, thus indicating that the number of women utilizing the internet has grown. The highest percentile that recorded growth in time spent on the search engine was recorded among the middle aged. Women between 35 and 44 years old registered an astounding growth rate at 123%. The time spend on Google Search was measured in terms of minutes and the data represented year over year growth.

Google also reported that there was a significant increase in the amount of usage in women above 55 years. Last year, the same percentile reported more growth than the percentile of women aged between 15 and 24 years and that of women who fall under the age of 24 to 35 years. The report indicates that the uptake among women outperformed the men in the younger age groups. Men between 15 and 24 years recorded 104% increase in Google search usage while women in the same age category registered an increase of 110%.

Women between 25 and 34 also outdid their male counterparts in the same age bracket with 108% growth for women and 98% growth for men. The software and tech company also reported that more mothers use the Google search compared to the fathers. According to the research findings, one out of every four dads uses the search engine while 1 out of 3 mothers utilize Google search.

One of the company’s statements on the matter pointed out that the internet has been a critical driving force towards changing the lives of many women, especially in India. It is, therefore, a step in the right direction, and Google expects the trend to continue so that more women can experience the internet and its power.
