San Francisco, CA – It takes the brain of size of a pea to recollect memories and photos you cherish but a sizeable amount of space if you decide to store them digitally.
Google offers a solution to this problem. The tech-giant has launched a new standalone Photos app Google Photos at Google I/O 2015 that aims to improve how you store and organise your huge photo collection digitally.
Google Photos as the application is named comes with unlimited storage for all your high-res photos and videos. This feature of the application makes it the most appealing features.
Besides, some neat UI tricks make hundreds of photos easier to navigate, and smart image recognition technology makes your library of photos almost endlessly searchable.
The ingenious Organisation feature analyses your images and automatically sort them into groups such as vacation destination, activity, or even species of animal.
Other tools will automatically create slideshows and albums accompanied by music.
The entire practice will also make the process for customers to submit their pictures by means of social media and messaging providers pretty simple and straightforward.
The image resolution is limited to 16 megapixels and video resolution is limited to 1080p videos.
Although not the best, the figures are reasonably good enough for most mobile and amateur photographers.
The Google Photos app will be available for Android, iOS as well as the web. The app surely intends to make other photo storage service that charges users after crossing a fixed storage limit, redundant.
According to Google Photos Product Lead Anil Sabharwal, “the company isn’t planning to monetize the free version of Photos with ads or in any other way”.
