Android Nougat OTA update to arrive on Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE in coming weeks

Android 7.0 Nougat

Google has confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat will be rolled out to Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE in the next few weeks. Android 7.0 Nougat has officially released three weeks ago. However, tech enthusiasts were disappointed with the lack of any factory or OTA images for the Nexus 6. It seems that people are not at all concerned about the Nexus 9 LTE since the handset is not a hot selling gadget.

According to sources, tech enthusiasts were so tired of waiting for a long time. There were speculations that Nougat might not even be available for the Nexus 6. However, the latest round of rumors clear all speculations and you will get Android 7 Nougat update will be available in the next couple of weeks.

Android Nougat updates for Nexus 6 expected soon

Meanwhile, Android Police has claimed that Google had informed them of the roll-out for Nougat on the Nexus 6 and 9 LTE in the upcoming weeks. However, this will happen in a few weeks. The tech portal disclosed they don’t have an exact timetable for the proposed launch.

Bugs delayed Android Nougat launch for Nexus 6

According to sources, Google had to fix few errors and bugs on the Android Nougat update for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE. Google was adamant that a final release will happen only after the development of the required patches. This is the main reason attributed to the delay of updates.

Android 7.0 Nougat started to roll out for devices supported by Google on August 22. Even though Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE-branded models are part of the Google’s family, the company didn’t provide an update.

This has forced users to think that these two devices will never get an update. If you own any of these two handsets, you should have been waiting for weeks asking Google to provide an update. There was no clear reasoning or explanation from the part of Google regarding the unavailability of Android 7 updates for both Nexus devices.

Silence by Google over Nexus 6 Android Nougat

That being said, Google had maintained staunch silence over this issue. We don’t know the complete details as to what the search engine giant had revealed to Android Police. We strongly expect that the updates are on the way. There is no reason to wait until October-end only to hear the fact that Nexus 6 has been discontinued.

In the meantime, if you are on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you can test drive Nougat by joining the Beta program. If you join Android beta program, you will be eligible to get the final developer preview for Android 7.0. But for the final release – let’s wait.
