Every year, Google gives birth to a Nexus Android smartphone by swapping manufacturers each time. The main motive behind the release of Nexus 2016 is to provide a pure Android experience instead of decorating them with complicated skins.

The upcoming Nexus 2016 is expected to ship with the latest version of Android. If the device is released by November, we can expect Android Nougat.

However, if you rewind back, you will be able to see the possible timeframe for the next edition of Nexus 2016 at around September. You can expect Android 6.0.2 Marshmallow to be loaded with the device with the capability to upgrade to the next version.

If rumors are to be believed, we can surely expect Android N, and it will be the first device to ship with the new platform. We are not sure how the big “N” will be named. According to reports coming in, people are pushing for Neyyappam, since this name is featured on the official Android N name-voting page. However, names like Nutella and Nougat are also in competition.

According to unconfirmed reports, HTC will manufacture the upcoming Nexus 2016 and therefore setting aside the rumors of Huawei being involved. However, few sources still claim Huawei will manufacture the design front, and HTC will play a vital role in the development of internal components. The possibility of LG being involved in the manufacture of new Nexus 2016 is ruled out.

Currently, the Nexus is available in 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch variants, and Google is planning to make a shift in the design arena to enable the device to suit different users. As per reports, Google is planning to release three variants of Nexus 2016 instead of two display variants.

Talking about hardware specifications, the HTC Nexus 2016 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 820 processor, up to 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, in addition to a USB Type-C port for fast charging.
