Google inks partnership with Gupshup to build Actions on Google Assistant

Google Assistant

Google has established a strategic partnership with Silicon Valley-based Gupshup to enable enterprise companies to create Actions on Google Assistant. Interestingly, Gupshup is a bot platform company and will be used to expand the artificial intelligence capabilities of the Google Assistant.

With the help of Gupshup’s cross-platform development solutions, bot builders will be able to build and deploy bots or Actions for the ever growing Google Assistant. Commenting on the development, Beerud Sheth, CEO Gupshup disclosed that the bot landscape has grown exponentially over the last few years. This will enable you to experience a new world surrounded by intelligent and conversational interfaces.

To begin with, VentureBeat is gearing up to build an upcoming Google Assistant Actions, which will be available for public consumption by the end of December. However, this bot will be available for Google Home.

If you are a user of Google Home, you can launch the VentureBeat bot by saying “Ok Google, let me talk to VentureBeat”. You can then navigate to the latest technology news and headlines. You will be able to work with the Google Home by directly interacting with Google Assistant.

According to Gartner, nearly 6.4 billion connected gadgets will be available all over the world by the end of 2016. This accounts for over $235 billion in spending of total services and support. Meanwhile, the research firm also forecasts that nearly 20.8 billion gadgets will establish connectivity with the IoT by the end of 2020.

We expect more companies to follow suit and integrate their own bots directly on the Google Assistant. This is because there is a huge scope for the growth of the Assistant due to integration of the voice based assistant into mobile messaging apps such as Google Allo.
