Design and Build

The design of the phone looks premium with the matte black finish and shiny antennae bands on the back of the phone. The camera on the rear has a little bump and has dual LED dual tone flash beside it. The fingerprint sensor is rear mounted below the camera module. The loudspeaker grill can also be seen at the back of the phone.

The front of the phone is occupied by a 5.3 inches HD (720 X 1280) display and the capacitive navigation button below it. The top part of the front panel has the front camera sensors; the front facing LED flash, the usual set of sensors. The left edge of the phone has the SIM card tray slot, and right edge got the volume rocker and power button. The top edge of the phone is empty, and it has the micro USB and audio port on the bottom edge of the phone.

The display of the phone is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 2.5D curve on the edges which makes it comfortable to hold in hands. The screen looks like popping out of the chassis feels good in hands.

Features

The Gionee A1 Lite smartphone comes with lots of features just like its every other A1 series smartphones. The fingerprint sensor is accurate and fast and unlocks the smartphone in less than a second. The loudspeaker is at the back of the smartphone which might be an issue because it can get muffled when placed on couch or cushiony surface.

Operating System

The Gionee A1 Lite comes with Android 7.1 Nougat running out of the box; the Amigo UI is layered on the top of it. The Amigo UI is simple and fluid interface with no app drawer which makes it simple to use. The whole UI is just the home screen, and you will see all your widgets and apps on this screen only.

Camera

The rear camera on Gionee A1 Lite is 13 MP with dual LED dual tone flash; it supports shooting Full HD videos at 30 frames per second. It also comes with HDR and lots of modes which you can use like the text extractor, QR code reader, translator and more.

The front facing camera is the USP of this smartphone; it comes with a 20 MP front facing camera with LED flash. The camera UI has lots of options which you can use while capturing selfies. There are various modes like the beauty mode and the night mode to capture brighter selfies even in low light.

Wrapping Up

Gionee A1 Lite comes with amazing specs and features at the price of Rs. 14,999. The customers will also get some fantastic offers from PayTM and Airtel. The smartphone market in this budget segment lacks a decent handset with good selfie camera. The Gionee A1 Lite might give some decent competition to the rivals.
