France praises India’s efforts to fight Global Warming ahead of Paris Climate Meet

India once again finds mention ahead of the crucial UN climate change conference in Paris later this year. France on Wednesday said that India is going to play a crucial role in the summit.

Top French officials are in India ahead of the UN summit and said that initiatives like the one proposed by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi which suggests coming together and creating an alliance of Solar Power rich countries and it will be a big and positive fillip for the coming annual UN climate summit in Paris.

France is already impressed by the number of initiatives started by the new government that includes boosting the solar energy output of the country.

Laurence Tubiana, Ambassador for Climate Change Negotiations, was talking to reporters and said that India was an important country and has played and will play a leading role in the discussions.

Tubiana has been designated as a special representative of the French Government for the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21).

Tubiana added that India is on the path of rapid growth and India has put into place, and it will serve as the harbinger of future Indian policy. Tubiana was all praise for Narendra Modi and was impressed by the intent to generate 100GW of solar power by 2020.

All countries will get together in Paris for the COP21 or the UNFCCC to chalk out a new global climate deal. 2015 was already underlined as a very crucial year for climate change. The 5th report of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published in 2014 said that global warming is continuing, and the result of burning fossil fuel is potentially catastrophic.
