Flipkart launches Billion-Brand, to sell only ‘Made in India’ products

Flipkart is working on selling products made in India under the brand name “Billion.” The brand Billion has been announced by Flipkart on Monday, this self-brand is going to be the mother brand for products made in India and made for the Indian market. Flipkart assurance infrastructure is backing this new Billion brand, and the products are selling under this brand will also be manufactured by this brand in India only. The brand will produce products like mixer grinders, irons, cookware appliances and backpacks. Every product will sell under the Billion brand name on Flipkart online store.

Sachin Bansal who is co-founder and executive chairmen of the company said that the quality of the products would be monitored closely and the products that will be sold under the Billion brand will fulfill the shortcoming of existing brands. Flipkart made several attempts for selling products under its brand name, many more of them are still selling on Flipkart.

Last month, Flipkart launched Divastri which is its first attempt at fashion brand selling under Flipkart Fashion. Flipkart already acquired two fashion stored in recent years, Myntra and Jabong and had also completed the merger with eBay.in. After acquiring them, Flipkart acquired the 70% of the fashion market in India. Flipkart also announced SmartBuy which offers an exclusive range of quality everyday products under its name. Digiflip is another example brand from Flipkart which offers smartphones and tablets and selling home appliances under Citron brand.
