Fitbit has come up with its latest wearables- Flex 2 and Charge 2. These activity trackers come after almost two years after their predecessors. The new Fitbit Charge 2 comes with an inbuilt heart rate monitor (as is customary), as well as something the company has named ‘connected GPS’. This means that during the time the wearable is connected to your phone, it will use that device’s location information to keep a map of your route and give you real-time stats such as speed and distance.

Just like Apple, Fitbit now seems to be into breathing exercises, since it is providing some in the Charge 2. The wearable is capable of tracking multiple sports such as running, biking, and weightlifting, and automatically recognize the physical activities you’re performing. It gives you reminders to keep moving, automatically tracks your sleep (with silent alarm functionality), and it still operates with computers, Android, and iOS devices.
Its display is four times larger than the original Charge wearable. The bands are interchangeable, the battery can last up to five days, and smartphone notifications are shown on the display. The Charge 2 is also “sweat, rain, and splash proof,” so it can not be taken into the shower or the pool.
The VO2 Max reading calculates your cardio fitness level and gives you information on how to improve your fitness score and your health. The Fitbit Charge 2 is said to be released in the middle of September.
Fitbit Flex 2 Price and Features
The Flex 2 tracker does not have a heart rate monitor. However, it is very small and can fit in a band, bangle, and pendant accessories. It has no screen but sports five LED lights. It tracks your steps, distance, burnt calories, active time, hourly activity, and inactive time. It also has a sleep tracking, reminders to move and silent alarm functionality.
The waterproofing is a substantial upgrade from the predecessor. The company says that the tracker can survive up to 150 feet depth of water. This isn’t exactly an everyday utility but, it’s there.
The Flex 2 bands come in black, lavender, magenta or navy. If you get bored of the original color, you can always pop out the little tracker and put it into a different band of your choice (doesn’t have to be Fitbit). The company has come a long way since its crowdfunding days and has already got a loyal user base.
