Cutting the clutter; Hero Motocorp’s RNT diesel fuel bikes unveiled

Coming close to a season of new launches, the Indian two-wheeler and four-wheeler market has been witnessing sudden spurt in new launches. Every prominent player in auto industry is in race to make its presence felt. Latest to join this bandwagon is, Hero MotoCorp.

Hero MotoCorp, erstwhile Hero Honda, is the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer now. The Gurgaon based company is credited for rolling out many two-wheeler models that still rule the young hearts and minds. Splendour, Karizma, Passion, Maestro etc. are some spectacular bikes from Hero’s Kitty.

However, Hero MotoCorp is not the only two-wheeler giant in India; there are few others, making the industry a fierce corporate battleground. Hence, periodically lining up the new products is an important part of their strategy to cool off the competition.

In continuation, Hero MotoCorp unveiled five new bikes for the Indian consumers. Among them, Hero RNT 150 TDI, a diesel-fueled vehicle has been a cynosure. Yes, we said “a diesel-fueled”.

Hero RNT is the country’s first concept diesel two-wheeler that would be pushed on the roads by a 150 cc liquid cooled engine. The 4-stroke motor is capable of producing 13.5 BHP @ 4000 RPM, and comes with direct injection fuel technology.

At the first instance, the viewers will not be impressed with RNT’s rugged looks, which every young bike enthusiasts scouts for. The Hero RNT will definitely be a choice for the yearning middle class population, haunted by frequent fluctuating and steeply climbing petrol prices.

Being India’s first diesel fuel bike is not the only characteristic feature of Hero RNT. In addition, it is also the first two-wheel drive hybrid automotive. That will drive its hybrid power from a 16-cell lithium ion dry cell battery.
