Call it the Jio effect, all service providers have started offering sops which were unbelievable just a few months ago. The latest in this is the state-owned BSNL who has launched a new Rs. 144 plan for its customers. The plan will be on offer for six months and consists of unlimited local and STD calls to any network for one month. The plan will additionally offer 300MB data. The new packs are available for consumers without any extra charge, absolutely free.
BSNL has announced a slew of measures which includes the launch of Wi-Fi hotspots across the nations. BSNL is also planning to offer 40,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across the nation. BSNL has also obtained 2500MHz from GOI for spreading its services across rural India. With most of the big telecom service providers focusing their attention on metros and big cities, BSNL is hoping to fill in this gap by using its vast resources for achieving this end. It is also planning to unveil classic LTE in the future.
BSNL has taken the completion by the horns and had offered unlimited BSNL to BSNL local calling for Rs 99 only for a month with 300MB data also. In another plan, it will be offering free voice calls across India to any network for Rs 339 only. It is also the only service provider which is offering unlimited 3G data for Rs 1999 for a month.
With JIO extending its free services for another three months, it is just natural for the other service providers to follow suit. Other players have started launching new data plans and free voice calls packages. In the end, it is the consumer who is benefitting by this competition and that is the silver lining in this black cloud.
