Independance Day offer: BSNL rolls out free unlimited calls to any mobile and landline

As part of the 70th Independence Day celebrations, BSNL is offering free unlimited calls to any network. This offer is valid until August 15, 11.59 PM. Announcing the launch of the offer, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha revealed that BSNL customers will be able to make free unlimited calls via voice from BSNL landline to any mobile or landline network on August 15. However, this offer will also be available every Sunday after August 15. The free calling service from BSNL landline to any network is available for all customers without any additional charge.

Free unlimited night calling also available

Commenting on the offer, BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava revealed that the service will be available for all BSNL landline customers along with the existing free calling scheme during night. As of writing this, BSNL offers free unlimited night calling from a BSNL landline to any network in the country between 9PM and 7AM. BSNL is also providing fixed line connection for monthly rental starting Rs. 49 for a period of first six months.

After the expiry of the offer, you will be able to migrate to any other plan as per your requirement. If you want to avail lowest monthly rental, you can subscribe to Rs. 99 plan, which is the lowest.

Encouragement to use landline phones

Shrivastava added that with the help of the new schemes people will be able to experience latest features and facilities available on BSNL landline network. This includes call forward to mobile phones. Moreover, the BSNL free calling scheme will encourage people to use landline phones when they are at home. This will help them to cut costs on mobile phone bills.

Landline Phones required for Digital India

He also said that the landline phone will play a vital role in the proliferation and expansion of premium broadband services. Furthermore, broadband services are required for the fulfillment of Digital India initiatives. The BSNL free calling scheme introduced on August 15 will open doors for the expansion of broadband services in India in addition to the growth of the landline connections.

Headquartered in New Delhi, the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has an overall market share of 57 percent with 14.35 million customers. With a revenue of INR 279 billion as of 2014, the total assets of BSNL amount to INR 893 billion.

BSNL is the largest provider of landline and broadband services in India and sixth largest mobile service provider in India. The company provides services and also established offices throughout India. However, Mumbai and New Delhi are managed by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL).
