Figuratively, there currently is one smartphone among every 4.5 people in the world. The number of mobile devices (both phones and tablets) in the World is set to increase to 7.7 billion, which is more than the current World population, 7.1 billion. If you’re wondering how that is possible, imagine some folks having more than one mobile device.

Wondering whether a mobile device is a mainstream method of tapping consumer-audiences? It certainly is. With 1.8 million cell phones being sold per day, you should be able to reach anyone’s eyes on their mobile device. The figure mentioned above is said to be five times the number of children born in the world per day.

But what exactly does one do on their mobile device? The answer is simple, practically everything. The sheer amount of social activity on the internet tells you that consumers cannot be torn away from their mobile devices.

Twitter records approximately 380 million tweets in a day; Facebook has about 370 million active users daily, and YouTube gets about 80 million hits on its videos per day.

Apart from social platforms, mobile devices are used to download 192 million apps daily. The size of this downloaded data measures five times more than that uploaded on Facebook daily. Mobile Payments account for USD 1.1 billion in volume per day telling you even payments are preferably made on mobile devices rather than physical desktops or computers.

If you do not think that consumers are inseparable from their mobile device, statistics show that people in the United States spend 1/3rd of each working day or sleeping night on their mobile devices (3.3 hours daily), bring their phones to the bathroom (75% of respondents), use their devices when watching TV and better yet, check news on their phone 40 times a day.

Rebates Zone has learned that one in four people redeems a coupon via a mobile device. It says a lot if you want to get a hold of your consumer’s attention. Simply say hello via their mobile device.
