Asus Zenwatch 3 release date confirmed for August 31 along with Samsung Gear S3

Earlier this month, some alleged images of the Zenwatch 3 leaked online. They suggested that the smartwatch would have a round dial. Now, after its latest Zenfone # series launch, the company has released an official teaser for the Android wearable, through its Twitter handle. The image says “Incredible is coming” and reveals the release date – 31 August 2016. The hashtag used was IFA2016.

The teaser in no way says that the awaited device is a smartwatch. It could well be another smartphone. However last year, the Zenwatch 2 was released around the same time and the company recently launched its Zenfone 3 series. This almost entirely negates the likelihood of a new smartphone by them but, it can well be a tablet or even a laptop at its pre-IFA 2016 event.

Having no conclusive evidence to figure out which devices will be launched at the event, we will have to wait for an official statement from the company about it. IFA 2016 is going to start on on September 2, and end on September 7.

The Zenwatch 3 images that were leaked on a Chinese website ePrice showed accessories along with the watch. The ZenWatch 2 that was launched at the IFA trade show had two variants one with a display resolution of 320×320 pixels and another with 280×280 pixels. The watch was packed an AMOLED display and was topped by a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartwatch was priced from Rs. 11,999 in India.

Along these lines, a new render leaked online confirms the previous leaks showing a round dial.

Unfortunately, the render focuses mostly on the display, its build, and the three side buttons. You can figure out a little bit of the strap. The image appears to show that the ZenWatch 3 may have a leather strap. However, it is just a render, so it’s tough to tell. With that being said, the strap also appears to be the same as the one shown in the previously leaked photos. The render also looks to feature a grained pattern on the leather.

The company has been heavily criticized for its bombastic pricing of the latest Zenfone 3 series, with the highest price being Rs. 62,999 (Zenfone 3 Special Edition). However, the company’s smartwatch hasn’t been under the radar for such reasons, yet. What the strategic team at the tech giant has planned, is only for time to tell. But the anticipation continues.
