Asus and Xiaomi launches ZenFone 2 and Mi 4i respectively in India

New Delhi, April 23 – Asus Zenfone 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4i are now available in India. Both ASUS and Xiaomi announced their flagships for India on the same day. Asus has made ZenFone 2 available in 4 different variants whereas Xiaomi Mi 4i comes in a single hardware configuration only.

The Mi 4i is pretty similar to the Mi Pad. The Mi 4i looks quite different from the Mi 4 as Mi 4i features a polycarbonate body and Mi 4 houses a metal chassis. Also Xiaomi has declared that the two are significantly different. The Mi4i weighs 130gms which is comfortably light. It has a 5-inch FHD screen and hence is easy to handle and operate.

Compared to Mi 4i, ZenFone 2 is heavier at 170gms. ZenFone2 inherits the basic design of the original ZenFone. Also it incorporates a blend of the LG G2 and HTC One. The power button is situated on the top edge which is not exactly the perfect placement. Given that it’s a relatively long device the button could have been placed somewhere else. However gestures and tap are supported to wake the device.

Mi4i definitely has an edge over the ZenFone2 when it comes to looks.

Special technology for better results

Mi4i has a special feature known as Sunlight Display. The latter enhances outdoor visibility by sensing the surrounding brightness and adjusts the display output as needed.

Taking into account the local culture

Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global claims that the Mi 4i smartphone draws inspiration from India’s rich and varied culture. The device supports multiple Indian languages such as Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada among others. A stand out feature is a Visual IVR which delivers both video and audio.

Zen UI delivers an app drawer a feature notably missing in Xiaomi’s UI. Mi 4i scores over ZenFone 2 as far as performance is considered. However ZenFone 2 gives extra storage via a microSD card. Mi 4i is powered by a 3120 mAh battery while the ZenFone 2 has a relatively less powerful 3,000 mAh battery.

ASUS ZenFone 2 models are priced between Rs. 12,999-22,999 whereas Xiaomi Mi 4i is priced for Rs. 12,999. ZenFone 2 is already available on sale at Flipkart and Asus retail stores and Xiaomi Mi 4i will be available to buy starting April 30.
