Apple’s AR-powered smart glasses could launch by 2018

Apple is reportedly exploring the possibility to manufacture smart glasses, which will have a capability to wirelessly link with the iPhone. According to reports, the forthcoming smart glasses would pair with an iPhone through wireless connectivity. This will be similar to that of an Apple Watch, which establishes connectivity with an iOS-powered handset.

There are reports from multiple sources, which confirm the fact that smart glasses would leverage Augmented Reality. However, you will be required to wait for a long time to experience Apple’s smart glasses.

According to Bloomberg, Apple had placed orders for parts and components for various testing purposes. Industry analysts feel that a number of parts will not be sufficient for a mass production. Based on information available from credible sources, the new smart glasses will not hit retail shelves until 2018.

In early 2016, Apple CEO Tim Cook had revealed that AR would be the future. He also gave a hint that the rumored glasses could be Apple’s first AR product. Since Google faced few issues with their problems, Apple doesn’t want to rush with false promises.

Augmented Reality is going to take a while because there are some really hard technology challenges there, but it will happen in a big way, and we will wonder when it does, how we ever lived without it. Like we wonder how we lived without our phone today.

To recall, Google Glass smart spectacles was a huge flop since it never lived up to the expectations. The teaser video revealed how a user can spend his day with a Google Glass but it never happened like that. The main reason for the dismal performance of Google Glass is that it didn’t appeal to consumers, especially the massive $1500 price.
