Apple MacBook Pro 2016 release date suggests 4 USB-C ports and Touch ID

MacBook Pro 2016

A brand new MacBook Pro is expected this year with some exciting additions. From past rumors, we have got to know that the upcoming device will sport a multi-touch supported OLED panel. We also know that Apple will include a biometric fingerprint scanner in its forthcoming MacBook. Recent rumors suggest that the MacBook will feature a Touch ID power button, which means that the fingerprint sensor will be integrated with the power button of the device. This will further enhance the security of the Mac.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is also expected to bring an innovative OLED touch panel which will take the place of the function keys of the keyboard. On top of acting as fully functional utility buttons, the OLED strip may also be used to display quick notifications.

MacBook Pro 2016 Design and Specs

The forthcoming Mac will sport an updated design language with renovated hinges. The device is also expected to lose some weight and be a little slimmer. Otherwise, it will maintain Apple’s signature built quality with a metal body constructed with high-grade aluminum.

A total of four Type-C USB 3.1 ports will reportedly reside in the coming MacBook Pro. A Thunderbolt 3 port will also be present. News has widely spread regarding Apple’s decision to scrap the 3.5 mm audio port from its upcoming iPhone 7 line-up. The lightning port is speculated to handle the responsibilities of the headphone jack.

This indicates that the upcoming Mac may also lose its traditional headphone port and in turn be replaced with a lightning port. With this, there arises a tiny possibility that Apple may bundle a lightning EarPod along with the Macbook. This is highly unlikely, though, and instead, the company can just slide in a lightning to 3.5 mm adapter.

This year’s MacBook Pro is expected to be powered by the latest Intel Kaby Lake processors. This is the successor of the already powerful Skylake series and has already begun to ship to the manufacturers. Intel’s Kaby series natively supports 2nd generation USB 3.1 allowing a transfer speed up to 10 Gb/s. This is fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3 port.

New generation graphics processors from AMD or NVIDIA are expected to manage the graphics department of the upcoming MacBook. It is almost certain that the MacBook Pro 2016 will run the macOS Sierra out of the box. Apple is expected to launch the new Mac within the end of this year.
