Apple accelerates iPhone 6 marketing in India

Apple iPhone 6

Apple’s official website for India now links Reliance online store in the list of places from one can buy the new iPhone 6 models. One can also buy iPhone from a nearby Reliance store. However, the Reliance hasn’t listed the device yet on its e-store.

Though the move is not surprising, as there were also reports of Reliance’s leaked payment plans for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus priced at INR 3,099 per month and INR 3,599 per month for 24 months.

Hence, the latest Apple listing of Reliance e-store underscores the possible talks going on between the companies to promote latest iPhone devices aggressively with a zero down payment option.

If such plan comes out, Apple would build upon the previously tried zero down payment plans for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, which were priced at a monthly fee of INR 2,999 and INR 2,599, respectively, for 16 GB variants.

Apple launched its iPhone 6 variant in India in October. The iPhone 6 with 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage have been priced at INR 53,500, INR 62,500, and INR 71,500, respectively. The larger iPhone 6 Plus has been priced at INR 62,500, INR 71,500, and INR 80,500 for 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB models, respectively.

According to early reports by Hindustan Times, Apple sold out its first shipment of 55,000 units of iPhone 6 models in just 72 hours. A person familiar with the matter reported at that time that Apple would require at least three days refilling the stock following initial stock out.

Apple recently participated in the Google Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) 2014 in December to offer  a significant amount of discount on the basic model of iPhone 6, priced at INR 49, 455.
