Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Firmware updates now available for Nexus 7 3G

Google Nexus 7

Google has finally published the factory images of its newest version of Android, 5.0.2 Lollipop, for Nexus 7 cellular models . The company previously released factory images for the tablet’s WiFi model following the original release of Android Lollipop last year.

According to Google, both first and second generation of Google-Asus Nexus 7 3G model will be receiving the update. There is no words on whether and when the update will be available for the tablet OTA. But users can download the factory image and flash the zip file on their tablet device manually to upgrade their Android version to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The current version that’s running on Nexus 7 is Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Google released Android 5.0 Lollipop for the WiFi model of first and second generation Nexus 7 tablets. But for the cellular model of the tablets, it released Android 5.0.2 directly, skipping the original 5.0 version.

The build number of Android 5.0.2 is LRX22G. It is dated October 22. So if you’ve got a first or second generation Nexus 7 tablet that is a 3G model, you can either flash the factory images directly or wait for the OTA update that will take Nexus 7 to the new version.

Some of the prominent features of Android Lollipop are material design which focuses on beautiful animations full of vibrant colors. It also has a new notification system, lockscreen notification, and a new battery saving mode that helps save battery when you’re away from a charging point.
