WhatsApp rolling out Storage usage feature for beta users

The multimedia messaging giant WhatsApp has rolled out a new beta update regarding the addition of ‘Storage usage’ section in the settings menu. As according to the latest report, the company has only rolled out this feature for its beta version for Android platform. However, the iOS has been already updated by this feature previously.

The ‘Storage usage’ section allows users to give more control over the storage used by WhatsApp chats on Android. This new section provides more refined and comprehension control over the storage by managing the text and media content. To navigate to this option, users have to tap on the menu icon and tap on the “setting” option. After that tap on the “Data and storage option.” And finally, tap on the “Storage usage” option.

In this section/feature, the apps showcased all contacts and groups with their storage size. Now users can navigate through these contacts individually and manage and view the data consumption. Moreover, when the user enters into the contact, the apps show the consumption regarding the numbers of messages, contacts, and Location sent and received.

It also displays the amount of media transaction (Images, GIF, Video, Audio) occur in the particular group or contacts. Moreover, now users can also delete the content via “Manage messages” option which was situated on the bottom of the app. To get this beta version of the app, users can download it from APK Mirror to use the feature right away.

Nonetheless, the WhatsApp next update 2.17.341 beta version was posted on the apk mirror website on 18 September. This beta version comes with a new feature which allows users to post text-only updates to their status which will be visible for 24 hours. In a video call, now users can tap back to continue the video call in picture-in-picture mode on (Android 8.0+).
