WhatsApp Gets Picture in Picture support for Video Calling Feature in Stable Build

Facebook owned WhatsApp has imparted two new features on their messaging application i:e PiP support and ability to have text as a status message. As over 1.3 billion monthly users worldwide, WhatsApp has tried to make its messaging domain more attractive and feature packed.

The PiP (Picture in Picture mode) allow users to resize the video calling window and drag it anywhere on the screen while availing multitasking at the same time. Moreover, the second feature lets users avail text-only updates as their status with extra options of changing the background color and adding the text to it. However, these text-only statuses also adhere 24 hours of visibility.

To recall, WhatsApp has begun testing PiP feature on Android platform since July this year, as iOS recent version also adheres the support this functionality. Notably, these features have been already rolled out by WhatsApp to Android and iPhone users on the stable build since late last month.

WhatsApp last APK version (2.17.323) was released on September 7 this month. As it comes with a unique feature which allows users to receive a lot of photos or videos in a row from the same sender and they will be grouped as an album. After clicking on the grouped icon tab, it further displays all pictures.

Nonetheless, WhatsApp has always tried new possibilities to make their messaging platform attractive by adding new capabilities and improving its existing features. To recall, the company is also working on adding a UPI based payment support to its messaging domain and wants to capitalize on country’s recent interest in digital payments.
