Volkswagen Ameo Pace with 1.0 litre petrol engine officially launched

ameo pace

Volkswagen Ameo gets a new 1.0-litre petrol engine, replacing the older 1.2-litre motor. With the introduction of the new engine, the German-automaker has launched the new Ameo Pace. And just like Polo Pace introduced last month, the Ameo Pace gets a 999cc, three-cylinder engine that churns out 76hp at 62000rpm and 95Nm torque at 3000-4300 rpm.

The new engine complies with BS-VI emission norms and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Other variants remain the same. The VW Ameo Petrol is still offered in a choice of five variants. These include Trendline (Rs 5.5 lakh), Comfortline (Rs 6.14 lakh), Comfortline Plus (Rs 6.44 lakh), Highline (Rs 7.15 lakh) and Highline Plus (Rs 7.45 lakh) (all prices ex-showroom).

That said, there’s no petrol-automatic configuration for the Ameo Pace. However, the VW Ameo is still offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine with optional DSG transmission.

VW Ameo Pace will compete against the likes of Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, and Tata Tigor. Though with the launch of the new 1.0-litre petrol unit, the Ameo becomes the least powerful car in the sub-4m sedan category.

VW India is also organizing an Ameo roadshow that’ll run through 250 cities across India. The roadshows begins April 14, 2018, and is aimed primarily aimed at creating brand awareness in the country.
