BlackBerry DTEK50, DTEK60 now official in India: Key things you should know

BlackBerry has announced the launch of DTEK50 and DTEK60 Android-based smartphones in India starting at Rs. 21,990. While the DTEK50 will be available by the end of this week, the DTEK60 will hit retail shelves in early December.

According to BlackBerry, the newly launched smartphones are the world’s most secure Android smartphones in the world. The company also revealed that the smartphones are ready for enterprise adoption with its Enterprise Mobility Management solutions.

BlackBerry DTEK50 specifications

On the specifications front, the BlackBerry DTEK50 features a 5.2-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 2TB. The display features a pixel density of 424PPI.

The rear camera features a 13-megapixel sensor with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash including a 6-element lens with a f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing snapper features an 8-megapixel fixed focus camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.2 aperture. A 2610mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 technology supplies power to the phone.

According to company sources, the BlackBerry DTEK50 is capable of delivering up to 50 percent charge in 51 minutes. The phone provides 17 hours of talk time and up to 12.8 days standby time. With a thickness of 7.4mm, the phone measures 135 grams in weight.

BlackBerry DTEK60 specifications

Talking about BlackBerry DTEK60, the handset flaunts a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 2TB. The rear camera features a 21-megapixel sensor with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element f/2.0 lens.

Meanwhile, the front camera offers 8-megapixel fixed focus camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.2 aperture. The phone is equipped with a 3000mAh battery, which is higher than DTEK50 phone. The handset offers reduced thickness when compared to DTE50.

Both DTEK50 and DTEK60 are loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The company has customized the UI by integrating BlackBerry Enterprise services. The BlackBerry DTEK50 is priced at Rs. 21990. However, the BlackBerry DTEK60 will be available at Rs. 46990.

Previously, BlackBerry had launched DTEK50 in July 2016 with availability in August. Meanwhile, the BlackBerry DTEK60 was finally launched in October end. The launch is after a series of rumors surrounding the product.
