Airtel to introduce 4G VoLTE network in India later this year

Airtel

Reliance Jio is the only operator in India offering voice over the 4G network; the VoLTE technology in India. And now Airtel is on the verge of introducing VoLTE later this year. The Company is conducting trials of voice over LTE technology in five cities and hopes to take it across India in the later part of the year.

Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel said at a conference “Our Voice over LTE is in the works. We are currently doing trials in five cities … we have done some testing. At some stage towards the later part of the year, we should be able to take VoLTE everywhere,”. The Bharti Airtel also announced the improvements to its app, website, and in-store experience at a press conference.

With Airtel joining the VoLTE league, it will open up a door to the new frontier in the price war with rival Reliance Jio which has large numbers of consumers base in the country and its lucrative and highly competitive pricing for the data offers made consumers shift to their services. So, for Airtel it would not be an easy ball game altogether, the company has to offer the better network bandwidth, and competitive tariffs plan to grab the large numbers of the consumer base.
